He added an RBI single in the fourth inning to push the lead further, finishing as the game's headline performer. New York's second inning decided the game. With the score tied 0-0, Torrens homered to right center, plating Marcus Semien and Jared Young to make it 3-0, a play that flipped the lead the Mets would not relinquish. Bichette's solo homer in the third made it 4-0 before Cleveland answered with an RBI double from Martínez that scored Adell. Torrens' single in the fourth pushed the margin to 5-1, and Carson Benge added a solo homer in the eighth for the final 6-2 margin.
Cleveland got what it could from Joey Cantillo, who allowed 5 runs (2 earned) over 5.0 innings with 5 strikeouts before taking the loss, falling to 8-7. Travis Bazzana's RBI single in the fifth brought Cleveland within 5-2, but the Guardians could not generate more than the single run in that frame and the one in the third. Sean Manaea worked 6.0 innings for New York, allowing 2 runs (2 earned) with 7 strikeouts and 5 walks to improve to 3-5. The Mets bullpen closed it out with 3.0 scoreless innings across three relievers.
The win moved New York to 48-66 on a one-game winning streak, while Cleveland fell to 57-57, snapping its momentum with a one-game skid.
