Christian Encarnacion-Strand carried Baltimore's offense all night, going 3-for-5 with a home run and 4 RBI. His two-run single in the fourth put the Orioles back in front, and his fifth-inning homer, which also brought home Henderson, gave Baltimore what looked like a stabilizing lead at 6-4. Tampa Bay's decisive rally came in the seventh. Jonathan Aranda's single scored Walls to cut the deficit to 6-5, and two batters later Jonny DeLuca singled to left, driving in both Aranda and Diaz to make it 6-7 and send the Rays in front for good. Earlier, Jorge Mateo's two-run homer in the fourth and a Yandy Diaz blast in the third had kept Tampa Bay within reach through a back-and-forth middle innings stretch.
Baltimore starter Brandon Young lasted four innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, and reliever Yennier Cano took the loss after recording no outs and allowing 3 runs on 3 hits. Tampa Bay starter Shane McClanahan did not factor in the decision after going 3.1 innings and allowing 3 runs on 4 hits. Cam Booser earned the win with 1.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, and Bryan Baker closed it out for his 35th save, working 1.2 innings without allowing a run.
